A Certain Tea

Spring
has sprung and so did a Spring Tea held at
Bayport United Methodist Church on Saturday,
April 17th. The tea was a wonderful afternoon
of shopping, treats and fellowship presented
by Bayport Methodist Women.
First, the ladies browsed the boutique to
purchase tea related items, such as china tea
pots and dainty dishes. Everything for sale in
the boutique was donated. The funds raised
through ticket sales and the boutique went
back to the church and other organizations
they support.
With all the shopping, everyone worked up a
thirst for tea and some treats. The room they
had the tea in was decorated with flowers,
lace tablecloths and exquisite china tea sets.
Over 40 local ladies sipped on delicious
apricot tea out of antique china tea cups and
sampled strawberry tea loaf. There were three
different flavors of real fresh brewed tea
served, along with lots of other delicate and
delicious treats. Members of the church
volunteered their time and energy into making
the food, helping in the kitchen, being
servers and donating their tea sets to be
used. It was everything you would expect of a
proper tea.
After the tea, the women moved into the
sanctuary. Keeping in the tea theme, they
listened to Jann Sanicola, a church member
that helped in the planning of this event,
give a talk about "The Certain-teas of Jesus".
Jann told a story from The Bible about a woman
of faith. This woman is someone that women
today could relate to. Women often get pulled
in many different directions and as that woman
from The Bible, they must be certain of their
faith.
This was the first tea they had in three
years. The members of the church decided to
revive this tradition and with the success of
this tea, they hope to do it again next year.
